FROM OUR MINISTER

Rev. Wayne Pruitt
     April 2008 - Easter spirit!

The spirit of new and renewed life is evident these days at Union Church:

* Lenten Sunday worships marked Jesus's journey in the wilderness sustained by faith in a loving God.

* Twenty-six folks of all ages traveled to San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua and completed a very ambitious water system installation.

* The Capital Campaign Building Committee continues to meet and oversee the progress that nears completion of the addition and elevator...a long-awaited dream about to come true!

* The Sunday School continues to expand, not only with children, but with innovative and engaging classes that bring to life the biblical stories and their messages of faith.

* Again, this year, a wonderful group of newcomers became members of The Union Church in Waban participating in its life and ministry!

The Church continues to be the body of Christ in the world today...and signs of the resurrection are reflected all around us AND in our midst! Thanks be to God!!

An Easter poem expresses this spirit:

                                Opening

Now is the shining fabric of our day
Torn open, flung apart, rent wide by love.
Never again the tight, enclosing sky
The blue bowl of the star-illumined tent.
We are laid open to infinity
For Easter love has burst His tomb and ours.
Now nothing shelters us from God's desire -
Not flesh, not sky, not stars, not even sin.
Now glory waits so He can enter in.
          Now does the dance begin.

May this Eastertide find you "dancing" in spirit as well!

Blessings,

Wayne
