This Sunday, with love for Christ, resurrected and compassion for our most vulnerable neighbors, the UCW Special Easter Collection will be dedicated to LUCE the Immigration Justice Network of Massachusetts. LUCE is a coalition of immigrant led organizations in Massachusetts on the front lines in immigrant communities throughout the State assisting our neighbors impacted by unlawful detention and forced deportation.

LUCE is a coalition of immigrant led organizations in Massachusetts on the front lines in immigrant communities throughout the State assisting our neighbors impacted by unlawful detention and forced deportation. LUCE makes available direct supports crucial to the survival of immigrant families left alone. The LUCE network staff and volunteers deliver food and medicine to families, fearful of leaving their homes; accompany children to and from school and protect families at risk through ICE WATCH, multi-lingual hotline operations and access to legal aid.

This past year we have been overwhelmed by the cruelty of forced deportation, stunned by the tragedies from officially sanctioned, violent, ICE confrontations, and the suffering caused by arbitrary termination of food, assistance, and humanitarian aid to those most need. Today this immigration crisis continues unabated. At Easter time, our donations will  serve as our witness to strengthen the outreach lifeline LUCE partners provide to immigrant families in need. As we rejoice and find hope in the Resurrection let us together make an offering of hope that God’s love will prevail.
