A Reminder - This Sunday, Sept. 1
A reminder that we won’t gather for worship at UCW this Sunday morning. Welcome Sunday is next week, September 8th, when we’ll regather for worship, communion, a Flat Jesus get-together (see below) and a picnic following worship. It will be a great way to celebrate the end of summer and the start of a new church year!

Welcome Sunday
September 8 at 10:00 a.m.
Sunday, September 8th is our annual Welcome Sunday! We’ll kick off the start of a new program year with a communion worship service followed by fellowship and food. Whether you have been traveling or home for the summer, join in welcoming one another back to sanctuary worship.
One of the centerpieces of our worship service will be a communion table festooned with Flat Jesuses and photos of his many summer activities. Bring your household’s Flat Jesus back to worship on the 8th (don’t worry, you can take him back home again afterwards), and between now and then, send Pastor Megan any photos you’ve taken that haven’t yet been sent in. If you haven’t taken any photos with Flat Jesus yet, this holiday weekend is the perfect time to do so.

Loving God, hear the prayers of your people gathered in this community,
-
God, we lift to you the deep grief felt throughout our community following the sudden loss of beloved member Anya Bassett. May your peace which surpasses all understanding be made known to all who loved Anya.
-
We pray for Jackson, who died last week, and for his family, friends, and those who love him in their grief.
-
We pray in gratitude and excitement for all of our new college students beginning their first semesters. We pray, too, for their parents, for students of all ages preparing for the new year, and for educators, support staff, and administrators who are getting ready to welcome students back to school.
-
We pray for Maddie B., that she may feel the love of God and the love of her church with her during what has been a difficult few months.
-
We pray for Beth and the Usher family, close family friends of Pastor Amy, as Beth seeks to make the best of each day, surrounded by love, in her journey with stage-four endometrial cancer.
-
For all in our UCW community who are ill, or who are caring for loved ones. For all who grieve, God, we ask for the comfort of your presence.
-
We pray for peace for your people all throughout the world. Teach us to beat our swords into plowshares, O God, and to sow wisdom and reap peace, justice, and joy.

Flat Jesus Summer 2024!
Flat Jesus experienced a little magic at Disney World with Tanya L., saw Chatham Light on a beautiful day with Jean, Judy, and Jim, and took a weaving lesson in Leominster with Pastor Megan in the last few weeks. Don’t forget to take photos with your household’s Flat Jesus and send them in!
