Holy Week Offerings 2014

HOLY WEEK OFFERINGS at UCW

Palm Sunday, April 13th. Adult and Children’s Choirs will sing “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord” from “Godspell” as the Call to Worship. The duet “Ride On in Majesty” by English composer Grayston Ives will be sung by our two soloists, Sue Ellen Kuzma and Courtney Jackson. Our Choir will sing the beautiful “Sanctus” from Mark Hayes “Requiem”. This composition will be sung this October in Rome, Italy, by some members of our choir

Open Sanctuary, Wednesday, April 16th, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. The sanctuary will be open for prayer and walking the labyrinth on the Wednesday evening during Holy Week.

Maundy Thursday Service, April 17th, 6:15 p.m. Our service begins with a light meal. As the light fades we move into our Tenebrae worship where we move through scripture and song with Jesus and the disciples as the events of Holy Week unfold. Even as we end the service in darkness and silence, we dare to anticipate the Good News of Easter. Please RSVP to [email protected] so that we can plan food. Child care will be available.

Holy Saturday Vigil, April 19th, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. We begin our worship in the darkness that closed our Maundy Thursday service, but move steadily through song and prayer, communion and the reaffirmation of our baptisms into the dawning of the Good News of Easter that we know is coming! If you need childcare for this service please let the office know by noon on Friday, April 18th [email protected].

Easter Sunday Worship, April 20th, 10:00 a.m. With joy and thanksgiving we will celebrate the Easter mystery of new life. Our wonderful clarinetist Emil Lancea will open the service with the Allegro from the Carl Stamitz 3rd Concerto. The Adult and Youth Bell Choirs will join in the Call to Worship, “Alleluia! Sing to Jesus”. The Choir will offer two Anthems, “Christ the Lord is Risen Again!” by Richard Shepherd and the majestic “Risen Alleluia” by Douglas Wagner, joined by our Bell Choir

Children are invited to share in worship though we will have nursery care and a staffed classroom available.
