Rev. Christy Lang Hearlson
Rev. Christy Lang Hearlson is a native of Washington State and an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA). In 2005, Christy received Master of Divinity and Christian Education degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ. From 2005-2010, she served The Brick Presbyterian Church in New York City as Associate Pastor for Christian Education and Discipleship.
In 2010, Christy returned to Princeton Seminary to begin a PhD program in Practical Theology. She plans to finish her dissertation (in which UCW figures!) and graduate in May 2016. Christy has also worked as a youth director, youth ministry consultant, retreat leader, and copy editor, and she has written extensively for several church-school curriculum publishers. She is co-editor on a forthcoming volume published by Eerdmans, entitled A More Excellent Way: How Youth Ministry Can Change Theological Education, and she was recently named a P.E.O. International Scholar and a Louisville Institute Fellow.
Christy is married to Dr. Adam Hearlson, Assistant Professor of Preaching and Worship and Director of the Chapel at Andover Newton Theological School. Together with their son Elliot, they have attended the Union Church in Waban since 2013.
During Stacy’s sabbatical the Rev. Christy Lang Hearlson will be working 15 hours a week focusing on worship, staff support and pastoral care needs. Moderators Annie Gatewood and Karen Weisgerber will be working closely with Christy and staff in what will be a terrific fall here at the church.
