Mission & Outreach

Mission & Outreach

Mission, Outreach and Service is at the core of who we are. At The Union Church in Waban, we practice the inclusive love of Jesus, growing and learning together, sharing God’s love with our neighbors around the corner and around the world. We know there is much work to do in God’s beautiful and broken world, and believe every person has important gifts to share.

Please join us in this good and meaningful work by reaching out to the contacts for the opportunities below.

Common Cathedral & Boston Warm

Common Cathedral is an outdoor congregation bridging the gap between housed and unhoused people. We partner with them to share food and warm clothes, worship together, and participate in programs for youth and artists.

Mitten Tree

Each Christmas we partner with the Norwood Health Center and Project Care and Concern to share needed gifts and holiday cheer with their residents.

Norwood Health Center

The Norwood Health Center (formerly Waban Health Center) residents have become an extension of our church community through monthly worship services, pen pals, and holiday celebrations.

Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO)

Gathering with dozens of other houses of worship across the Boston area, we work together to advocate for a variety of social justice issues.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Our annual Thanksgiving dinner is a beloved gathering for all! We invite anyone in the community to join us for a traditional meal and fellowship.

Newton Food Pantry & The Community Freedge

We partner with this local food pantry throughout the year to help those in our community experiencing food insecurity.

Racial Justice

In June of 2019, nine UCW members participated in a pilgrimage to Montgomery and Selma, Alabama. Born from the deep learning and reflection, many racial justice initiatives were formed.
