Documentary Release Planned at The Union Church on June 3!
The City Mission Society (CMS) will offer a screening of the documentary Jahmol’s Plan for Youth Peace on Wednesday, June 3rd at our Union Church in Waban.
This 45 minute documentary focuses on the challenges of urban “kids” to stay committed to youth peace in the climate of escalating teen handgun violence that seems never-ending. Follow the teens through hardships of growing up in a challenging environment, to organizing neighborhood peace parties, to discussing their ideas and plans with Harvard lawyer and professor Charles Ogletree. The screening will begin at 7:00 p.m. and there will be a group discussion immediately following the screening with young members of the project. Our Mission Committee led a collection drive to support this project last year. Your donations helped create this film! Come see it and stay, if you can, for the amazing panel. Youth and parents and young adults encouraged to attend. Child care will be provided.
