Updates from the Union Church Office; September 9, 2011

The Union Church

in Waban

Join the Union Church family this Sunday, September 11

to kick-off the new church year

with Worship, Communion, and Sunday School at 10:00 a.m.

This Week

The Union Church will commemorate the events of September 11, 2001 by joining our neighbors on the grounds of Newton City Hall on the evening of September 11, 2011 at 6:00 p.m.

Look for the updated Union Church Directory in the side chapel. Please check the preliminary copies available and make any changes or updates to your information. You need only correct one copy.

Look for the Christian Education table outside reception after worship. This is your chance to sign up for upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.  Sunday School registration forms are also available if you have not already turned one in.

Children will not be returning after Communion this week, but will stay in their classrooms. Sunday School classes end at 11:10 a.m.  Enjoy the first ten minutes of reception kid-free.  The Noah's Ark class kids will be led down to reception by their teachers.  Older kids will be released to find their own way.

There will be a Mission Committee meeting Monday evening, September 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Lunch Bunch will meet at noon on Tuesday, September 13.

Choir will rehearse again on Wednesday of this week, and resume regular Thursday rehearsals next week.

On Friday, September 16, Stacy will lead a worship service at the Waban Health Center for their residents. Let Stacy know if you are interested in joining her.

And Beyond…

Book Group begins on Wednesday, September 28 at 7:30 p.m. The Help will be discussed.

Clothing Drive for Cradles to Crayons (C2C). Leading up to our service day at C2C on September 29, we are sponsoring a 'ready for school' clothing drive. C2C's clothing donations are lowest at this time of year when needy families are most in need of school clothes.  So please bring in your new and gently used (no rips or stains) clothing in sizes 0-20.  Shoes accepted too.  Or buy some new underwear and socks to contribute.  A donation box is located at church through September 28. And don't forget to mark your calendar for 10am-noon on September 29 for our morning at C2C. Contact Kathy ([email protected]) with questions.
