Weekly updates for November 23, 2012

The Holiday Greens sale has been extended until Sunday, November 25. Donwload the greens order form or get one Sunday in the side chapel.

Sunday after worship, and next Sunday, December 2, we will be holding our Alternative Gift Fair featuring handcrafts, photo note cards, Equal Exchange coffee and hot chocolate, and other gifts. Also, we’ll be having our Advent wreath making activity. We’ll have all the supplies for making Advent Wreaths with real greens. Suggested donation is $20. We’ll also have stations with other Christmas crafts. Plan to stay after worship to enjoy these fun events and get ready for the Advent season.

Conversations Along the Way will meet Sunday at 11:30 in Stacy’s office.

Book Group meets Monday evening at 7:30. All are welcome. We will be showing the film “Nowhere in Africa.” This is the true tale of a Jewish attorney and his family who flee the Nazi regime in Germany in 1938 for a remote farm in Kenya. (Book Group is currently reading the sequel “Somewhere in Germany” which describes the family’s return to postwar Germany.)

The weekly meditation workshop continues with one more session. Each session is a stand-alone, and there’s no need to have been at the others. Any degree of experience — from none to decades — is great. If you have any questions, please contact Kathryn Henderson at [email protected]. We hope to see you there! Each week Kathryn has suggested some meditation practices that can fit into a busy day. Read her suggestions here. The next session will be on Saturday, December 1, 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.: forms of chanting, including praying the Psalms and Taize chant.

The C.E. Committee will meet Tuesday evening, November 27 at 7:00 p.m.

The Pastoral Relations Committee will meet at 7:30 on Tuesday evening, November 27.

Prayer Group will meet on Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m.

Wellspring meets Wednesday evening, November 28 at 6:30.

Youth Group meets next Friday, November 30 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at church.

Christmas Pageant Casting: It’s already time to sign up for the Christmas pageant. This year we’ll be bringing the congregation a live newscast from Bethlehem on December 16. There are speaking and non-speaking parts for everyone. Please bring your child by the Stage following Sunday School to sign up with Kathy for just the right part for your child(ren).
