Sunday School ‘Travels’ to Nicaragua

On March 9, the Sunday School traveled vicariously to Nicaragua to learn about this year’s February mission trip and our church’s ongoing relationship with communities around San Juan Del Sur.

With help on the stove from Greg and Chris, Sue demonstrated how to make Tostones, or twice-fried plantains. She also showed pictures of typical meals served by her host family in Nicaragua and shared a big pot of Pico de Gallo, or rice and beans.

Timmy and Kate helped the kids make friendship bracelets. The bracelets will be sent to kids in an afterschool program run by the university student our church sponsors in Nicaragua.

Soo taught the kids to say a Nicaraguan table grace in Spanish. In addition she showed samples of Nicaraguan money, helped the kids locate Nicaragua on a map, and gave out flags for the kids to color.

David showed videos of recent trips to Nicaragua and talked about this past February’s project to increase access to clean water.
