Growing in Friendship
“Growing” is our theme for the month of July. Each Sunday we will be exploring a practice that if cultivated may help us to grow in our capacity to love as Christ commands.
This Sunday, Nathan Patti was our preacher. He explored what it is to grow in friendship with God and with each other as church drawing on two passages that Arlyne Grant read from the Gospel of John (John 15: 12-17 and John 2: 1-11). As is our practice in July, the congregation was invited to listen during the scripture reading and sermon for a word that God may have placed on ours heart and shared that word in a time of reflection after the sermon.
[Jesus said]”You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ (Matthew 22: 37-39)
